Shopping Cart Hero 2

"About the same as the first."

date: December 21, 2009

There was not much change in the animation style, but I do like seeing the defenseless stickman get brutally hurt. I thought the upgrades were clearly better than the first, plus I hated the upgrade in the first one where for one jump you could have another person in the shopping cart. Some music or other sound would benefit the game, as would a tutorial because the controls were sort of hard to grasp if you were playing for the first time. The atmosphere and physics were difficult at first but I eventually got the hang of it.

There needs to be something you're aiming for in this game, simply collecting all of the upgrades and getting a higher score than your last attempt really doesn't cut it. There needs to be somewhere you have to land, or a certain score to achieve, or achievements that unlock free and extended play mode, do you see where I'm getting at? Simply trial after trial collecting money grows monotonous. Anyway, it was fun for a while, but the gameplay is definately limited. Keep up the good work.

Twins V2

"A noble idea, lacked some execution."

submission: Twins V2
date: December 21, 2009

The concept of the game has been done before, but I like how you put your own creative spin on it. The whole idea of switching the spheres to solid and invisible state really made me think, plus it become more of a timing issue as the levels increased. The detection and controls were somewhat off, as occasionally the sphere would be hovering over the green bar and saying I was safe, and other times I would not be in the vicinity of the green bar and I had to restart the level.

The text was difficult to read at times, but I thought the simple graphics were well suited to the game. I laughed at the This is Sparta Remix, I haven't heard that song in a while. I'll recommend it to the puzzles collection too, it deserves to gain more recognition. Overall, it was a creative game with increasing difficulty, but several flaws. Anyway, keep up the nice work!

Author's Response:

Thanks! I'm creating a Twins V3, which instead of using 'real' and 'ghost' twins uses black and white pairs of twins, and neither can touch a wall of the opposite color. It's going to be pretty sick.

Philosoraptor

"Such a ridiculous concept."

submission: Philosoraptor

It's random ideas like this that make your flashes so appealing. The concept of the flash is bizarre, yet the entire time I could not look away. There could have been some additional animation, as starring at a velociraptor's picture is intriguing, but it needed something else so the viewer does not stray away. The thought-provoking questions you included actually were philosophical, it was funny how they was relevant to the plot and irrelevant at the same time.

The changing cell-looking background was pleasing, as the music you included fit the flash well. Nothing pleases the Newgrounds community better than memes, but I am surprised this does not have a higher score, as the satire of it makes it truly deserving of one. Kyaztro, you never fail to impress me, I will always be a fan of your silly creations. Keep up the excellent work, my friend.

Bizzarogirl xXx-mas

"Somewhat disturbing, but still entertaining."

date: December 21, 2009

The animation was excellent, I like the bizarre style you draw all of your characters in. The Grace part in the opening was really funny, what is that from? For a dress up game, I thought you inclued a lot of interesting extra features, but the kryptonite part was morbidly grotesque, haha. I do not think I will ever be the same after witnessing what happened at that point. While the flash doesn't really put you in the Christmas spirit, it is worth a good laugh watching all of these silly antics.

The storyline really didn't have any relevance to the Bizzarogirl bit, plus the sounds overlapping the music made it difficult to hear what was going on. I instantly recognized Happy Harry's loop, it fit extremely well with the theme of the game as did the other songs. I thought seeing Bizzaro Tom dressed as Santa at what I assume was Wal-Mart was also ridiculously funny. The voices really are clever. Keep up the good work, and I apologize for breaking your chain of tens.

Author's Response:

Grace quote from senile Aunt Bethany in 'Christmas Vacation' played by late, great Mae Questel.. best known as voice of Betty Boop and Olive Oyl. A hats off to classic cartoon voice actors.

Storyline has relevance to BTF concept. BTF new to Earth and showcasing Flash BTF stole from home planet of Krapton before its demise. Being out Christmas shopping demonstrates BTF trying to assimilate to Earth customs.

Sounds overlapping music? Only sounds overlapping music are vibrators and moans. What sumidiot need hear going on? =)

Is OK chain is broken. Well thought out review with 8 just as good as "lawls" with 10.

Information Saves Lives

"Pretty cool."

date: December 21, 2009

I was really impressed by the constantly changing style of animation. The pixelation of the helicopter was really neat. The style you use to draw characters is nice, you have a very recognizable style. The sounds were well suited, the scream sounded good and I like the sound whenever the styles changed. While the plot was somewhat misconstrued, I thought the overall story was interesting to follow. The quality also looks like it was done in video, was that intended?

I did notice some of the compression spots in the flash, it was distracting at times, especially when the girl was calling on her phone. The animation was fantastic though, I saw a lot of frame by frame stuff that was impressive. Besides the quality and plot, there really wasn't much to complain about. I hope you do well at the Sparky Awards. Keep up the good work!

TT: Ace Attorney

"A fantastic replica."

submission: TT: Ace Attorney

If I were to base this solely on gameplay, you without a doubt would receive a perfect score. The entertainment factor of these games are insane, so incredibly addictive. Unfortunately, there were so many bugs it made the game seem unplayable. I eventually beat the game (great cliffhanger by the way, though it's odd that an act of stealing cookies leads to a murder, haha), but going through so many trials makes the player frustrated. For example, sometimes when I said Fishfingers had the stronger motive, it would occasionally say I'm right and other times say I'm wrong.

Another bug was that the save feature never was up to speed, as it often sends me back two or three more chapters. And it never worked in the last few chapters, plus it never gave you back full health like you promised unless you had full health in the chapter. It made the game unbearable for a few chapters, but you really turned it around with the Metal Gear Solid reference and Shaft bit. The Tetris but was also pretty creative.

It was cool how you renamed all of the regular characters. One thing I would recommend is making the footprint on the accidental photo two more visible, or you could disable the tab key because that's how I found it. Besides that, I thought all of the evidence made sense and I like how one theory led to another. The Judge liking the photo of Lewis D was also funny. Overall, a great replica of the Phoenix Wright games, I'm looking forward to the sequel. Keep up the great work!

A Newgrounds Christmas

"It had its ups and downs."

date: December 21, 2009

I thought the idea of the flash was simple, but the success of this flash is greatly due to the abundance of popular characters in it. Simply putting other people's characters into the flash really shouldn't depend on the score. The concept was good, and it was neat how you got the original authors to do the voices of the characters. The animation was alright, but considering only a few of the characters you included were your own, it was sub par in my opinion.

The credits actually were the highlight of the flash, the voice acting was funny. I also thought the conversation between the Overlord and Mastermind was creative. The music was nice too. Overall, it was tweened at times and lacked some imagination, but it was still an interesting piece to watch. Despite my rant about originality, I still thought the flash was pretty entertaining. Keep up the nice work.

A FBF Animation.

"Slightly amusing."

submission: A FBF Animation.
date: December 16, 2009

It was a very basic idea for a flash, but there really wasn't anything to grab the viewer's attention. The music fit the mood of the animation, and the frame by frame looked good, especially since it was your first attempt. I liked how you were coloring several of the figures at the same time, it allowed me to watch several things at the same time. It got beaten to death though right about when you were coloring in the flower petals, it seemed like you stretched the concept a tad too far.

There is definately room for improvement, as this was a noble attempt, it was visible that some areas were good while some were lacking. The simple animation was nice, but maybe trying a few more complex drawings rather than clouds and flowers will be more appealing to the viewer. Overall, it was fine for your first try at frame by frame, but the execution should be enhanced in several areas. Keep up the good work, bro.

Monster: agameaboutstuff

"An interesting concept."

date: December 16, 2009

This game was worth playing a couple times just so I could experience all of the endings. The animation was simple, but you proved your point and showed great emotion by the expression on the monster's face. I actually felt kind of sad when the monster went back into his cave. One thing I would recommend is to randomize the location of the person on each level, plus whenver the monster eats someone the victim is always pink. Aside from that, I was very impressed, it was a game with a good message.

The music was completely appropriate for this flash, it helped emphasize the monster's pain. This deserves a much higher score. People need to rate this game based on concept and meaning rather than animation or action. Overall, a few clearical errors make this game lack but it spreads good meanings and I like the perspective it is told in. Keep up the good work!

I'm not too great at programming, so I tried to make up for it with story. Randomizing is not easy for me; I basically taught myself flash. Thank you for the review, it was nice.

CROW

"Very interesting."

submission: CROW
date: December 14, 2009

Spooky isn't the word I'm looking for, it was more along the lines of frightening. It would have been better if the scream was louder, that was you would have effectively made me jump out of my seat. The plot was somewhat misconstrued, but the animation was awesome. It's good to see that you have a good idea for a story, it's interesting to see your out of your "Jimtopia state of mind" as well.

The introduction with the title floating from side to side was a great hook, I couldn't keep my head turned away from the screen. The music and sound effects were used appropriately to develop a scary mood, so kudos on that part. I also liked the character's reactions and how the crows multiplied consistently, it all flowed together nicely. Anyway, keep up the excellent work you two!
